Day 003

Practicing HTML Paths, Audio, and Video

What I Learned

HTML Paths

I practiced how to use paths when adding files to an HTML page:

  • Same-level path: image.png
  • Child-directory path: images/image.png
  • Parent-directory path: ../image.png
  • Absolute web path: https://example.com/image.png

Local drive paths such as C:\Users\Louie\image.png belong to a specific computer and usually should not be used on a deployed website. Relative paths and web URLs are more useful for real websites.

Audio and Video

I learned that:

  • <audio> is used for audio
  • <video> is used for video
  • controls displays the playback controls
  • autoplay starts playback automatically when the browser allows it
  • muted starts the media without sound
  • loop repeats the media
  • <source> specifies the media file and its type

Practice

I practiced adding media to an HTML page with audio, video, controls, and source.

English
